These past two days have been fantastic!
It all started Wednesday night after work. After running a few errands, I set up shop in the kitchen and started to cook! As Thursday looked to be a busy day, cooking Wednesday night was really important. The ham and stuffing would have to wait for Thanksgiving day, so I decided to bake the pumpkin cheesecake, prep the autumn panzanella salad, and make the pizza dip.
I cooked, cleaned and prepped for Thursday’s 5 mile run. Thursday, Neal and I started the day by running Alexandria’s Turkey Trot. We had a fantastic time at the Turkey Trot and finished just in time to head to the airport to pick up my sister! The afternoon was a total whirlwind… showering, cooking (stuffing and ham), playing games, and relaxing! Before we knew it, dinner was ready.
We had a wonderful time together and I’m so thankful my sister and my Aunt Danielle were able to join Neal and I for dinner! It’s great having family in town.
After dinner Neal and Alison came over to my place to relax before Black Friday shopping started at midnight. The plan was to rest, possibly nap, and then head over to Target at 10:30PM for the 12AM opening. Instead I woke up at 12:15AM in a panic because we had all overslept…. but that didn’t stop us! We headed over to Target as fast as we could.
WHOA am I sleepy!!
Target was CRAZY… but we found what I was looking for, (Neal and Alison found it for me actually)!! This is a Mr. Coffee Keurig, which was on sale for $79.99 and came with a $30 Target gift card! I’m planning to take this coffee maker to work, that way I can have a coffee maker in my office and hopefully spend less on coffee from Starbucks or from work.
Alison and I were quite energized after our 12:30AM shopping trip, so we watched Felicity until 3AM! The perfect way to end Thanksgiving if you ask me.
On Friday we all slept in and then Alison and I ran over to Bed Bath and Beyond to do a little more shopping. I found my next Giveaway item (look for it Tuesday!), mudslide coffee K-cups, and so wicked awesome hats!
At 12PM we headed over to Neal’s place to watch the Iowa vs. Nebraska game. Sadly Iowa lost, but it was fun watching football with Neal and my sister. For lunch we had leftover ham sandwiches and a slice of pumpkin cheesecake… yummy! After the game, we headed over to the Pentagon City Mall for a little more shopping!
Neal was a super trooper for going shopping with Alison and I, but we had a lot of fun! For dinner we went to Union Street Public House and used a $40 groupon I had.
We had a fantastic Black Friday together, filled with lots of shopping, football, and plenty of laughs! I seriously couldn’t have asked for a better Thanksgiving break, and it has just begun! Today Neal, Alison and I are off to NYC for the day! Here’s what on the docket for the day in NYC…
- Central Park
- Times Square
- Rockefeller Plaza
- Ground Zero
- The Holiday Market at Union Square
- Serendipity for some frozen hot chocolate
- and whatever else we can fit in!
I hope that each of you are having a wonderful weekend and had a happy thanksgiving!
