Getting back into my groove after the holidays includes getting my sweet tooth under control. I ate so many sweets these past few weeks, but I know it’s time to start limiting the amount of desserts I’m eating and to get back on track. Whether eating fresh fruit, banana “ice cream”, a protein shake, or a granola bar, I try to stock my refrigerator and pantry with healthy foods that satisfy my sweet tooth.
A few months ago I started drinking pre-mixed protein shakes after my 5AM workouts and have found some really delicious ways doctor them up. The Skinnygirl Vanilla Bean Sundae Protein Shake is one of my favorite protein shakes and I’ve loved making this Pumpkin Spice Skinnygirl protein shake recipe I created.
I made up this recipe before Thanksgiving and have enjoyed it a few times a week ever since. It is a great post-workout protein shake, but also makes for a delicious dessert! Pumpkin, unsweetened cashew milk, Skinnygirl Vanilla Bean Sundae Protein Shake… it’s delicious!!
One of my tricks for an ice cold shake is to freeze my unsweetened cashew milk in ice cube trays. I love adding ice to my shakes, but I hate watering down my drinks. The unsweetened cashew milk adds a great creaminess to the shake and as an ice cube, it makes the shake ice cold.
1/4 cup pureed pumpkin
6 unsweetened cashew milk ice cubes
1 Skinnygirl Vanilla Bean Sundae Protein Shake
Dash of cinnamon
Add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!!
Detoxing after a month full of cookies, candies, and pies is really tough, but recipes like this one really help my cravings. I love being able to enjoy a sweet treat that’s low in calories and high in protein. A win, win!
