Happy Friday everyone! I hope y’all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We’ve had a really fun Thanksgiving week, minus the nasty cold Magnolia developed mid week. After an incredibly mellow weekend, we kicked off Thanksgiving week with a trip over to the new Clarksburg Premium Outlets on Monday after Neal went into work. The Outlets are beautiful and it was great spending some time outside of the house with Magnolia and Alison. I also got a great workout in at OrangeTheory Monday morning!
Tuesday was a bit of a blah day. I didn’t wake up feeling too great and ended up spending most of the day at home. Ending the day with This Is Us was definitely a highlight! Are y’all loving this show?
Wednesday was our first day with Neal home from work so we headed into DC for the day. It was an absolutely beautiful day in DC weather wise, so we knew we wanted to head down to the National Mall.
After parking, we made our way over to the Washington Monument. Every time I see that monument I am in awe. Not only of the monument, but of the fact that we live in DC. It’s such a beautiful city and I am grateful for the history that surrounds us.
We spent a bit of time by the monuments and then we headed over to the American History Museum. We walked through a few exhibits and then headed down to the Wegmans play area on the ground floor. Magnolia enjoyed it for the most part, but was eager to head back outside.
We spent quite a bit of time on the Mall before heading back to our car. Magnolia loved playing outside and I loved being downtown with my family.
Wednesday night is when things started to take a turn south. Magnolia was extremely cuddly, so I knew she was starting to get sick. Magnolia isn’t much of a cuddler, so it’s always a good sign that she isn’t feeling well.
Thursday morning Magnolia woke up with a full blown cough and was quite under the weather. I felt so bad for her. We spent quite a bit of time Thursday morning cuddling and watching Curious George. Mid-morning, because we didn’t make it to the Turkey Trot, my sister and I went out for a really long walk around the lake. It felt great to get a good workout in before Thanksgiving dinner.
After a really long nap and some Zarbee’s Cough Syrup, Magnolia was doing a lot better. She still wasn’t 100%, but seemed good enough to head over to Thanksgiving dinner at our friend’s house. Our Thanksgiving dinner was outstanding and I am so thankful for our dear friend’s! We had a blast at their house and Magnolia LOVED going up and down their stairs. She also crushed the roasted carrots at Thanksgiving dinner! She was one tired little girl by the end of the night!
This morning we all slept in and then my sister and I headed over to Bath and Body Works, Carters, and Toys R Us to check out the Black Friday sales. I bought Magnolia a new pair of Christmas PJ’s at Carters and then picked up some hand soaps at Bath and Body Works. I’m planning to do more shopping on Monday after all the Cyber Monday sales are out.
Sadly I started feeling sick again around lunch, so we spent the rest of the day relaxing and hanging out around home. We went for a long walk as a family, watched The Family Stone, and all took long naps.
Magnolia and I still aren’t 100%, but I’m so glad we’re on vacation and able to take the time to relax at home. It has been a great week and I’m looking forward to the weekend.
