One year ago I was trying out for the DC Divas football team…
6 months ago I was in the thick of playing full contact football…
and 4 days ago I was running 10 miles around DC.
As I shared yesterday, I’ve been quite scatterbrained this week. I think on one hand I’m really worn out and then on the flip side I just don’t know what to do with myself. Either way, it’s been nice to rest this week and to lounge around in oversized scarves!
These past few days have made me realize how happy I am to be on the other side of football season and 10 miler trainer. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my experiences with football and running this past year, I’m excited to get back into a more traditional workout routine for a few months.
I am still planning to continue running each week, but will bring my mileage down a bit. I don’t have a set training plan, but I’d like to stay somewhere between 3-6 miles for my Sunday runs. The only race I have on my calendar is the Alexandria Turkey Trot, which Neal and I will run on Thanksgiving Day.
I also want to practice yoga and pilates more regularly. I have taken classes here and there these past few years, but have never practiced consistently. I’m hoping a hot yoga Groupon I bought last month will help me to get into my groove.
I am also going to continue lifting weights 3 times a week. I’ve really loved lifting these past few weeks and am thrilled to be back into it!
Obviously every week will be different, but I’m thinking my weeks will look something like this…
Tuesday– Cardio (running during Biggest Loser for example)
Saturday– Yoga or active rest
Sunday– Long run
I want my workouts to be a combination of strength, endurance, and recovery.
