I haven’t been able to blog much these past few weeks, so I was itching to write a “Life Lately” post. Well, the post ended up being way too long, so I’ve split it into two parts. As always, I’m sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly. A big part of blogging, for me, is being able to connect with others who are going through the same things or who have been through similar phases. Blogging is cathartic in many ways, so thank you for giving me a place to spill my heart during this phase.
Let’s start with the good amazing! This past Friday, my sister Alison and I drove up to Philadelphia after work to see Adele in concert. Let me just say, Adele is just about the greatest person on earth. I loved her before, but now I’m essentially obsessed with her.
My sister and I weren’t able to get tickets when they went on sale last year, but we both really wanted to see her. We kept putting it off, mainly because the tickets were atrociously expensive, but a few weeks ago ticket prices started to fall. We stalked the ticket website and found an amazing deal about two weeks ago.
Adele opened her concert with Hello, which was perfection. Next she sang Hometown Glory and it just gave me the chills. It is easily one of my favorite songs and to hear her sign it was just amazing.
Adele sang a ton of my favorite songs, including Chasing Pavements, but listening to her talk between songs was just about the greatest thing. Her stories were quite funny and I just adored her personality. She was really honest and she seemed so confident in herself and who she was. I loved that she owned who she was! She was clear that it took a lot for her to go on tour, but she realized just how much she loves performing in front of such a large crowd and being able to talk to that many people.
I haven’t felt too great about myself lately, which I’ll talk more about tomorrow, but seeing Adele was really encouraging. Adele looks amazing and she was motivating! She even talked about her new love for kickboxing during her concert. I have no idea what she could possibly weigh, but she looks amazing and seeing her reminded me how great I felt when I was in the 210 range.
Seeing Adele last weekend was amazing and I’m so glad my sister and I went. I won’t deny it, I’m seriously thinking about seeing her again when she’s here in DC next month. Realistically, I won’t go, but I’ve been keeping an eye on tickets. We’ll see!
The rest of the weekend was really nice. Alison and I got home around 1AM on Saturday morning, which was nuts considering I had been up since 4:15AM on Friday. I woke up around 7:30AM on Saturday when Magnolia woke up, but took a killer nap Saturday afternoon when Magnolia did. I ended up having to work a few hours on Saturday, but was able to watch most of the Iowa game with Neal and Alison Saturday night. OH, I also made Magnolia’s birthday cake!! More on that on Wednesday!
Sunday was a relaxing day. Alison, Magnolia, and I woke up early and went for a nice long walk around the lake. Once home I ran to Trader Joe’s for a few staples and then made a really delicious soup for lunch. When I heard a cold front was pushing though, I was really hoping for crisp weather Sunday morning. The weather was nice, but making soup was a bit of a stretch, lol. It’ll be hoodie weather before we know it!
The rest of the day was spent relaxing, walking around the neighborhood with Magnolia, hanging out with our neighbors, and celebrating Magnolia’s birthday early with a little cake. It was a nice weekend and today was a pretty good start to the work week.
