Happy first day of fall everyone! I don’t know about you, but I am so excited to bust out my hoodies, to burn some of the new fall candles I bought, and to begin celebrating the holidays.
After weeks of 80-90 degree days filled with PSL, fall decorations, and football games, I’m excited for it to officially be fall. September is such a weird month in my opinion. It’s still pretty hot here in the DC area and yet we’ve all closed the door on summer. Take yesterday for example, during my morning commute I drove past the most beautiful tree whose leaves were already starting to turn from green to a beautiful red and then I drove past a huge Magnolia tree with beautiful blossoms (they normally bloom in June). September just doesn’t know what to do with itself! Here in the DC area we have a couple more days in the mid 80’s forecasted this week and then starting Sunday we have highs in the 70’s for the upcoming week! I think we’re finally cooling down after a hot summer.
This fall, I want to focus on family. That is my ultimate goal. I have been extremely focused on work these past few months and I don’t want January to roll around and I didn’t take the time I should have to be with family over the fall. I’m extremely thankful for how patient Neal and Magnolia have been these past few months and I’m eager to give them both the time and attention they deserve.
Y’all know me, I love creating goals, but instead of creating goals for the fall, I wanted to write out some of the things I hope to do with my family these next three months. A to do list if you will. I’m still focusing on my goals for the academic year and honestly, I’m doing really well with those goals. I’m also working hard to track everything I eat in my Weight Watchers app and to enjoy all of my workouts. I’ll definitely create some goals for my upcoming birth year (32!!), but I’m feeling really good about the goals I’m working on currently.
The Months Ahead (September – December)

I would really, really love to plan a cabin getaway one weekend, but I know the fall is already filled with lots of great activities and events. I’m really looking forward to these next few months, to getting home from work and taking evening walks with my family, to making lots of delicious soups, stews, and pots of chili (especially when it’s not 90 degrees outside), to watching a ton of football and some of our favorite TV shows, and to making lots of memories as a family. I also can’t wait to see the leaves change colors as we spend our first fall in our new house. I can’t wait!
Here’s to the crisp weather, warm blankets, hot cups of coffee, and lots of memories!!
So tell me, what are you looking forward to this fall? What plans are you making?
**After writing this post, I realized I wrote essentially the same post in August. Clearly I’m happy it’s fall!!
