I hope y’all had an amazing Thanksgiving!! We started our Thanksgiving bright and early, heading over to Alexandria, Virginia at 7AM for the Alexandria Turkey Trot. This was our 4th year running the race and I have to admit, I was nervous. I was nervous about running 5 miles, especially because I haven’t been running outside of Orange Theory.
When we arrived at the race we grabbed our race bibs, let Magnolia run around a bit, and then we set up our Bob Flex for the race. We lined up behind the school at the stroller start and started the race at 9AM.
The Alexandria Turkey Trot is an awesome race, but it is REALLLLLLLLLY crowded. The first mile is like running with the bulls, so it’s a little overwhelming with the stroller. I knew I’d want to run the first mile without walking since it’s so crowded, but by the time we reached the first mile marker, I really didn’t need to walk.
A few years ago my goal was to run the entire 5 miler, but ended up walking around mile 4. As I passed the 3rd mile marker on Thursday, I knew I wanted to run the entire race. I kept a steady pace (11:30-12:00) and am so proud to say that I ran the entire 5 mile race without walking!! It was the longest run I’ve ever done without walking. I was hoping to finish under 1 hour, but I was so proud of my final time. It was a great race!
After the race we spent the rest of the day with family and friends, celebrating Thanksgiving with a big Thanksgiving meal. We enjoyed turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, kale salad, cheesecake, and a delicious peanut butter pie. It was an amazing meal!
Friday morning I woke up around 6:30AM and decided last minute to go shopping. I’ve always loved Black Friday, but I really don’t like that stores are opening up on Thanksgiving Day now. After Neal took Theodore out and Magnolia had had her breakfast I headed out. I put in Adele’s new album and headed over to Carters.
I knew Carter’s was offering 60% off the entire store, but I didn’t know they were handing gift cards out to the first 100 customers. I was thrilled when I realized I had won a $50 gift card!! I went ahead and bought some toddler clothes for Magnolia with the gift card and then headed over to Toys R Us to get Magnolia some building blocks for Christmas.
Last but not least, I ran into Kohl’s for some new work pants and then ran into Target to check out their sales. I bought a few presents for Neal and checked out their Christmas trees. I’m still in search of a tree, but think we’ll buy a real one this year. I don’t want to rush into buying a fake tree. I really want to find a nice one that will last a long time.
I spent most of the day today packing and running stuff over to the new house. I’m eager to get small stuff moved over now, that way we only have furniture to move in a few weeks. I just can’t wait to be move into our new home and to start decorating!!
