I started the day with a light breakfast before getting ready for the challenge. I scrambled 2 eggs with some scallions in coconut oil and enjoyed it with a cup of coffee.
After getting ready and packing my bag for the day, I made myself a smoothie for the road. The smoothie was made with Silk almond milk, vanilla protein powder, 1/2 tbsp of butterscotch pudding powder, and ice.
Once at Revolve in Arlington, VA, I mixed my water with some SPARK energy powder. As we would be outside for the bootcamp workout, I knew I’d need something besides water to keep my energy up.
I was really excited about the event because it gave me the chance to meet new friends and to see old friends, like Jen from Knack For Nutrition! LOVE HER!
Once at the park, we warmed up Military style. Running in place, high knees, burpees, pushups, and flutter kicks helped us to prepare for the bootcamp before us.
After splitting into 4 groups of 5, we did 4 different stations, each taking about 10 minutes to complete. The first round, for my group, was a circuit workout made up of 6 stations. Grant showed us how to properly perform each exercise before we started.
Our next station involved running up and down a hill with 20 pound sandbags. It was tiring, but Jen and I both agreed that we enjoyed running with the extra weight during the bootcamp.
Station 3 was similar to station 1, just with different exercises like suicide runs, pushups, stepups, and ladder work.
Our final station was a relay where 4 of us performed a different exercise while our 5th teammate ran. Once our 5th teammate had returned to the starting line, we would rotate.
The bootcamp, which was roughly 45 minutes long, was awesome!! Each station worked something different and really pushed me to do exercises I wouldn’t do by myself at a gym. I highly recommend Grant Hill’s My Bootcamp!
After the bootcamp we headed over to Revolve for a Real Ride.
We had about a 20 minute break, which gave us a chance to chat and mingle while setting up our bikes.
Grant Hill, who is also an instructor at Revolve, lead our 45 minute class which was awesome!! I absolutely love Revolve… just wish I lived closer!
The group was great, made up of people from all over the DC area!
South Block even stopped by afterwards to let us try out some of their cold pressed juices! Jen and I like them so much we decided to go there for lunch.
South Block Cafe serves smoothies, juices, and lots of wraps!
I ordered the Cure raw juice, which was made up of pineapple, carrot, lemon, ginger, and cayenne pepper. It was really good, but the cayenne was a bit much post workout.
I also ordered the Thai Fresh Burrito which was a whole wheat wrap stuffed with chicken, spinach, tomatoes, peanut sauce, and a grain mix (quinoa, black beans, corn, and brown rice). Also delicious!
Today’s 2 hour workout and lunch at South Block was just what I needed!! I loved sweating profusely, pushing my body, and refueling it with healthy foods!
If you live in the DC Area, be sure to check out Revolve, My Bootcamp, and South Block. You won’t regret it!
