These past few months have been an absolute whirlwind, but incredibly amazing all at the same time! From the day we found out we were pregnant up until now, I’ve had to find the balance of living life as if nothing has changed and changing my lifestyle entirely.
At our first doctors appointment on January 14 we thought we were 8 weeks pregnant, but during the first sonogram they measured the baby at 6 weeks. It was so thrilling to see the heart beating at just 6 weeks, but I’ll admit that being bumped back 2 weeks was a little discouraging. It has made the first trimester feel that much longer.
I’m proud of how I’ve lived life these first 12 weeks, but I’m eager for the second trimester to roll around and to get into a healthier routine. February was a really insane month for me and I’m extremely ready for it to be over! I have a trip home to Texas planned next week and a few dates on the docket with my husband. It’ll just be nice to get our townhouse unpacked, to get back into a routine, and to have far less stress in our lives.
Here’s a look at weeks 6 through 12.
First doctors appointment and sonogram (Due September 8, 2014)
Neal and I told our parents and siblings that we were pregnant
Started feeling flu like

Craving Greek salads
Enjoyed a MUCH needed snow day
Dairy and carbs were about all I could stomach

Started feeling much better physically, though some days were better than others
Realized that 9PM bedtime is where it’s at!
Ate a variety of foods

Fatigue hit me like a freight train
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!!
I started taking TUMS for heartburn

Holy heart burn!!
Started missing foods like sushi, deli meat, and beer
Craving anything “everything bagel” related (bagel thins, pretzel thins, you name it)

Bought some TUMS for work, the car, and home. Heartburn during pregnancy is no joke
Craving spice! Tabasco, salsa, hot sauce, etc.
Started going to bed at 8:30PM
Struggled with my workouts but got them done
Announced our pregnancy
Had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to eat. Nothing sounded good
