I am so glad Christmas week is here! I’m really looking forward to knocking a few more things off our Christmas to do list this week, having some time off work, spending Christmas Eve day with Magnolia, and celebrating Christmas with Neal and Magnolia. I was worried this week would arrive and I’d be bummed that we weren’t going to Texas or Iowa, but I’m not. I’m really looking forward to a quiet week, both at work and at home, and to celebrating Christmas with my little family. I’ll miss being with our large family, but stay here in Maryland is just what we needed. Plus, my beautiful sister will be here next week!!! I can’t wait to spend time with her.
I’ll confess, the past few weeks have been a little nuts. Moving into our new house was a lot of work and things haven’t slowed down. This morning Neal said, “seems like we’ve been running non-stop” and he’s right, we have been. Maybe that’s why I’m looking forward to these next two weeks. I’m just so excited to slow down, to think about the new year, and to get into a better routine.
For the most part, we’ve settled into our new home. The commute hasn’t been bad, the boxes are slowly but surly disappearing, and we’re truly enjoying the space. Theodore is loving the new house, especially the sun and air vents! We’re so happy with this home and it’s already bringing so much joy to our lives. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are set up and fully functional. They are far from decorated, but they are set up. Our bedrooms are finally de-cluttered, but again, far from decorated. We decided not to set up a guest room, so we technically have an empty room, which we hope will become Magnolia’s big girl room if we have another baby. The finished basement is pretty much a mess, but it’s our holding room. We need to get the attic and storage room set up and then we should be good to go.
Saturday night I finally decorated the house for Christmas. We didn’t buy a tree this year, so I set up the little tree we had in our apartment a few years ago. It’ll work and honestly is better with a 15 month old. I’ve been burning Bath and Body Works Fresh Balsam candles around the house and honestly, you’d never know we don’t have a real tree. The house smells amazing! This week I plan to make Christmas cookies, to make my Grandma’s Jewish Coffee Cake, and to plan out our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals.
Health and fitness wise, things have been ok. My fitbit seems to have broken (or at least it isn’t charging), but I’ve still been trying to move more each day. I’ve kept up with my OrangeTheory workouts and need to make a final decision on which location to use. I’ve obsessed with one, but it’s just a little too far for me. The one that’s closer is ok, but I didn’t love it, so we’ll see. My diet has been all over the place. I’ve been trying to eat healthy, but between moving and the holidays, I feel like I’m total maintenance mode. Thankfully, I’ve literally weighed the exact same thing for 2 weeks. I haven’t gained any weight, which is awesome considering all the sweets and treats I’ve been eating. I’m not throwing in the towel by any means, but I’m also happy with maintaining my weight and enjoying the holiday season. I’m working to balance what I’m eating and to push myself during my workouts.
I hope each of you are enjoying this time of year!! Enjoy every moment!
