Hi everybody or as Ashley would say, “Hey y’all!” I’m Ashley’s younger sister Alison.
While I have helped my sister in other ways on her blog, I have never done a guest post so I’m really excited to be doing so today.
At the beginning of August, I had my mom take photos of me in a dressing room. When they were taken I was discouraged and just couldn’t believe the point I had gotten to. Last summer was a difficult one for me so going back to school was a big step forward and with that step forward I wanted to take care of myself.
I had my gallbladder removed at the end of September, so my focus was to eat healthy and to just take care of myself. I didn’t quite have the energy this semester to work out like I was last school year but before I knew it, I had lost 41 pounds.
What was it about this time? The fact that I had surgery? Eating healthy? Eating less?
Honestly, I feel that it was the confidence in myself to treat my body right. After having a very difficult summer, I realized just how important it is to love yourself no matter what weight you are at.
I still have a long way to go before I’m at my goal weight but I’m focused on loving myself and feeling good. It’s great to take care of your body but you must take care of your mind and soul as well!
I decided the other day to take some new photos of myself just to compare and it’s mind-blowing for me to see the changes in myself. I think through weight loss we all get caught up in how far we have to go instead of celebrating what we’ve accomplished. You see your body every single day so change might not always be apparent.
Be proud of what you are doing to make yourself feel good and take the time to appreciate yourself for all that you have accomplished in your life!
