I haven’t had much time to talk about weight loss these past few weeks, or to post my goals for March, but this was a good week! 2018 started out with guns blazing, and although we’re in the thick of March Madness, I am trying to reconnect with my goal of simplifying this year. I want to simplify all things: work, routine, our household, and my wellness.
This week I went back to basics. I looked at the things/choices/moments that cause me to struggle and created a plan to be successful. Some of my goals for the week included preparing meals for the week ahead on Sunday, drinking more water during the work day, not eating after dinner, and staying away from desserts.
Monday morning started off with an OrangeTheory workout, which was great. I haven’t been able to attend OrangeTheory as much as I usually like, so it was great getting my workouts in this week.
This week I also brought oatmeal back into my life. As I am still breastfeeding, I personally find that oatmeal makes a huge impact on my milk production. It’s also filling, which I need during the work week. Most mornings I had oatmeal, a smoothie, and coffee.
Every day for lunch last week I had a roasted sweet potato, sliced chicken breast, cottage cheese, and hot sauce for lunch. I prepared everything on Sunday and the meals were delicious! With busy mornings, I find it so important to have my lunches made ahead of time.
I also made sure to have a snack right before I left work or as soon as I got into my car. I have found that having a snack during my afternoon commute make a huge difference in my success at home each night. If I don’t have a snack between 4-5PM I find myself searching for snacks before dinner once home. This week I ate yogurts, fruit, and/or granola bars for my evening snack.
We ate a variety of foods this week for dinner. As our women’s basketball team at work is in the thick of the Patriot League Tournament this week, I ate at work Monday and Thursday night and then enjoyed dinners at home the other nights.
This weekend has been wonderful! My mom and sister were in town, so we went out for sushi for lunch, enjoyed lazy mornings at home, and ran a ton of errands. It was nice being with family, enjoying the bright blue skies, and closing out a successful week diet wise!
Last night we went on our first walk as a family of 4 with both kids in the double Bob. I’m really looking forward to our nightly walks again, and although it was a little chilly, it felt like spring. It was a good winter, but I’m ready to be outside again, to enjoy more time with my kids, and to start gardening.
There’s lots to look forward to and I’m proud of the week I’m closing out!
