This was a weird weekend. The weekend started out great, but we had a rough 4th of July. I’m really thankful to have had 3 days with Neal and Magnolia and am grateful we’re all doing ok going into the new week.
Our weekend started out with a visit from my dad and a trip to the Amish Market. We love the Amish Market and had a great time walking around with Magnolia. After Magnolia’s nap we had lunch (hotdogs) and then ran a few errands.
We’re planning to fully renovate our basement bathroom and are taking steps to pick out tiles and accents now. I’m a huge fan of stone and neutral colors, so I was happy with what we found at Home Depot.
The weather was amazing on Saturday, so we went for a really long walk before dinner. Once home, we made burgers, watched the Nationals game, and then called it a night.
Sunday morning I woke up early and went to spin class. I haven’t been to spin in quite some time, so it was really nice seeing my spin friends and my favorite studio owner/instructor, Wendye. The class was awesome and I got a great workout in.
After class I stopped by the Olney Farmers Market. I bought some beautiful veggies for the week ahead and then swung by Safeway to pick up some staples.
During Magnolia’s nap I decided to go ahead and tackle painting the front door. I was really nervous about painting the door, but it went really well. It was great saying goodbye to the brown door and hello to our beautiful blue door!
The weather started to go south Sunday afternoon and the rain started moving in. I was really nervous about the front door, but thankfully it dried before the rain arrived. Magnolia was itching to get out of the house, so we headed over to Target to walk around. The day was pretty mellow, and although I didn’t get a whole lot done, it was nice paining the door and spending time with Neal and Magnolia (girl loves her hummus!).
Now Monday was a really rough day. I woke up around 6:30AM, got Magnolia ready for the day, and then headed to OrangeTheory for the 7:30AM class. The workout was awesome but really challenging. This is what the treadmill portion looked like…
-3 minute push pace
-1 minute base pace
-1 minute all out
-1 minute push pace
-30 second base pace
-30 second all out
-30 second walk (I stayed at base pace)
-Repeat all out and walk combo 4 times
-Repeat of Block 1
-Repeat of Block 2
The second half of the class was also intense, but it was a great workout! After class I rushed home and planned to make breakfast before hopping in the shower. We had tickets to the National game, so we were planning to get ready pretty quickly and then to hit the road.
While I was making Magnolia and myself breakfast, Magnolia fell and hit her head pretty hard on our kitchen floor. It was really scary and Neal and I decided to take Magnolia to the ER right away.
Magnolia was such a trooper and thankfully walked away with just a big bump on her head. We were in the ER for a few hours, but made it home around noon. We missed the Nationals game and all took naps as soon as we got home. I was a hot mess yesterday and just so upset about Magnolia’s spill. I felt so bad. You never want to see your child in pain.
It was a really gross day in DC yesterday, so we spent the late afternoon and evening indoors. We watched An American Tail, went for a short walk around the neighborhood in-between rain showers, and enjoyed dinner as a family.
For dinner I made twice baked potatoes, corn on the cob, caprese salad, and old bay boiled shrimp. It was delicious!
After Magnolia went to bed last night, Neal and I watched the DC fireworks on TV, caught up on a few of our DVR recordings, and then went to bed. I’m thankful to be off work this week and hope Magnolia heals quickly. We had a nice weekend, but boy did it have a rough ending. I’m just so glad Magnolia is ok!
