Thoughts and Feelings – Neal was in Iowa this week, so taking care of Magnolia and Theodore by myself at 31 weeks pregnant definitely left me exhausted. Most nights, I fell asleep by 8:30PM, not long after putting Magnolia down. I was just exhausted. Blogging, cleaning up the house, prepping for the next day… yeah, they didn’t happen. Thankfully Neal comes back today! I’m tired!
Overall though, I’m doing pretty good. I’m excited to hit the 32 week mark next week and to start the 2 month count down. I have a lot I’d really like to get done before baby, both at home and at work, but I’m hoping I can focus these next few weeks. Ideally I’d love to get everything wrapped by up 36 weeks, so that’s my goal.
I’ll be honest, it really hasn’t hit me that we’re having another baby and what all that’ll mean for our family. Work keeps my mind consumed during the day, and some evenings, and then I’m really focused on Magnolia. The fact that sleepless nights, breastfeeding, and transitioning to a family of 4 are just 2 months away is crazy, emotional, and a smidgen overwhelming. Especially the fact that every time a mom of more than one kid seems me with Magnolia they say, “oh, just to wait! You’re in for it!” I’m not sure I’m ready. But… ready or not!
The Bump –
Movement – Baby has been up in my ribs this week and I’m pretty darn uncomfortable! I don’t remember Magnolia sitting in this position, so I’m definitely more uncomfortable this time around.
Symptoms – I’ve had some heartburn this week, a bit more hunger, and less energy. I think holding down the fort had a lot to do with it, but I definitely felt super pregnant this week.
Third Trimester To Do List Progress – I essentially haven’t gotten anything done in the past week to prep for baby. With Neal being out of town and work being busy, this just wasn’t my week to do anything. I really hope to use the upcoming weekends to crank stuff out!
Things left to accomplish this month…
-Choose baby’s name!!
-Decorate big girl room (hang curtains, hang pictures)
-Transition Magnolia to her new room!!
-Clean our loft (it has become a storage area and is a mess)
-Decorate our master bedroom (consider buying a bed frame for our new(er) king size bed)
-Finalize maternity leave plan
-Create a plan for return to office after short term disability leave (6 weeks)
Upcoming Appointments – This coming week I have an ultrasound and an OBYGN appointment. I’m really looking forward to seeing the baby. I’m interested to see if he’s head down this week.
Diet – My diet was pretty good this week. I prepped my rice bowls for the work week on Sunday, had good breakfasts at home, packed healthy snacks, and enjoyed a few meals out this week. This week was my first week where I felt like I was eating too much, but man, I was hungry. I think because the baby is bigger, I just don’t feel great after eating. I feel like I’ve eaten too much, even if my portion sizes were good. This next week, I think I should eat more smaller meals, which might help me to feel less blah after eating.
Here’s a look at what I was eating at this point in my last pregnancy.
Food Cravings – Snacks!! I worked hard this week to bring healthy snacks to work and they totally hit the spot! I brought lots of watermelon and made these yogurt, fruit, granola boxes. Both were awesome! My treat this week was rainbow sherbet, and boy is it good! I forgot how much I love rainbow sherbet.
Workouts – My workouts were ok this week. I worked out at OrangeTheory on Monday, totally forgot it was Friday last Friday, and then hit my step goal each day. I’m really missing getting intense workouts in, but I’m proud of the workouts I am doing. Long walks and OrangeTheory twice a week has been energizing this pregnancy. I am really looking forward to getting back into shape fitness wise post baby. I love breaking a really good sweat!
Sleep – Goodness, I slept horrible this week! I got plenty of sleep, but I was really uncomfortable. I ended up sleeping on the couch the second half of the week, which was better, but I hated being so uncomfortable while sleeping.
