The Bump – I feel really great body image wise. I feel like the baby has grown a lot in the last week and that my belly has rounded out a lot. I really love being pregnant and feeling proud of my growing belly.
Thoughts and Feelings – Pregnancy wise, I felt really great this week. Compared to last week when I had those headaches, it was a total 180! Things have been tense/stressful at work, which takes a lot of energy out of me. I’ve tried to focus on my to do list at work, to take lunch breaks (both at my desk and away from my desk), and to leave work at work that way I can give Magnolia and Neal my full attention when I get home.
This week I just didn’t have it in me to do a whole lot after work, so I’m pretty behind on personal e-mails, text messages, laundry, you name it. Most nights I picked up Magnolia from daycare, enjoyed the evening with her, put her to bed, and then fell asleep on the couch by 8:30PM. I put in my best effort to watch the Caps games this week, but I feel asleep every game.
Hitting the 30 week mark is really exciting, but I also had my mini “holy crap” freak out on Thursday after realizing just how soon the baby will be here. I don’t feel ready, emotionally, logistically, in the office, or around the house, but I know that we’ll be just fine, even if nothing gets done. I am trying to aggressively attach my to do list, but I’ve also started crossing things off my list that just don’t matter. I’m trying to be realistic.
Movement – Wow! I just don’t remember Magnolia kicking this aggressively. This kid kicks a lot and in directions that are pretty painful at times. Sitting at my desk most of the day makes some movements odd, so I’ve been trying to use my standing desk a few times a day.
Symptoms – I had a few sharp pains in my groin this week, which my doctor had zero concerns about. She had it’s very common at this point in pregnancy. Otherwise I feel great. My blood pressure is awesome, blood tests are all fine at this point, belly is measuring exactly 30 weeks, and I’m doing what I can to be healthy. All in all, I’m grateful for how I’m doing and feeling!
Third Trimester To Do List Progress – I’m staying on top of my “before baby to do list” and this week accomplished a few things. I finalized our newborn photography with Stefanie Harrington (LOVE HER) and worked on our front flower bed. I pulled weeds yesterday, cleared out the front bed, and planted a few flowers in pots. I have a landscaping plan, but honestly, I don’t think I have it in me at this point in pregnancy. I’m highly considering getting quotes from a landscaper, just to have everything done right from the start and then our job is to maintain everything. We essentially have zero landscaping at our house, so we have a great opportunity to create a beautiful yard.
Things left to accomplish this month…
-Choose baby’s name!!
-Decorate big girl room (hang curtains, hang pictures)
-Transition Magnolia to her new room!!
-Clean our loft (it has become a storage area and is a mess)
-Decorate our master bedroom (consider buying a bed frame for our new(er) king size bed)
-Finalize maternity leave plan
-Create a plan for return to office after short term disability leave (6 weeks)
Upcoming Appointments – I won’t have an appointment next week, but the following week I have an ultrasound and an OBGYN appointment.
Diet – I am trying really hard to eat more veggies. I made a salad every day this week, added in more veggies as snacks, and tried to add a veggie to dinners. I’m trying. My weight gain isn’t bad by any means, but I want to control my weight gain these last two months.
Here’s a look at what I was eating at this point in my last pregnancy.
Food Cravings – I’m craving food! I’m just hungry, all the time. I’ve had to make sure I have a snack between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner. I’ve had yogurts, cashews, apples, carrots with hummus, etc. Otherwise, no specific cravings.
Workouts – Workouts were great this past week. I had two awesome OrangeTheory workouts, got some great walks in, and hit my step goals each day. All in all, feeling great!
