The Bump –
Thoughts and Feelings – As crazy as it sounds, I forget that I’m pregnant all the time. It’s really starting to hit me that we’re getting close to 30 weeks, which means the baby will be here in the next few months. I’m anxious, but not stressed about preparing for baby, which is good. I’ve started working on a to do list for the third trimester and just want to be smart about getting things done these next few weeks. There’s plenty I want to get done before July, so hopefully my nesting urges will set in. I’m also really looking forward to our ultrasound this next week. I’m always nervous going into the ultrasound, but it’s really helpful seeing the baby and knowing he’s doing ok. The week ahead could be really, really stressful for a number of reasons, but I’m trying to use this weekend to plan ahead, to get my ducks in a row, and to clear my mind before the week starts.
Movement – The baby is kicking more and more. I was less uncomfortable this week, which was great! For a while he was kicking in odd directions, but now he’s kicking more towards my belly.
Symptoms – My hands still go numb in the middle of the night on occasion due to my pregnancy carpal tunnel, but it hasn’t been really bad since right around the start of the second trimester. I did have a little acid reflux this week, which was odd, but I think it might be from the food we were eating in Texas. Otherwise, I’m feeling really good!
Upcoming Appointments – This week (28 weeks) I have an ultrasound, OBGYN appointment, and my third trimester glucose test. I’m not nervous about the test, but I’m ready for it to be behind me and obviously I’m hoping for a good outcome. I didn’t have gestational diabetes with Magnolia, so fingers crossed.
Diet – My diet this past week was less than ideal, but we were in Texas and definitely enjoyed eating our favorite San Antonio foods (breakfast tacos, Lulu’s, Rudy’s BBQ). I am working hard to get right back on track and had a great day yesterday. I’ve been a lot hungrier, so I’m trying to add more produce to my meals and am definitely eating a snack between breakfast and lunch. It’s helpful looking back on my Week 27 food journal from my first pregnancy.
Food Cravings – I don’t know if I was craving anything in particular this past week. I definitely enjoyed being back in Texas and enjoying my favorite foods. I’m still drinking lots of fluids, enjoying a cup of coffee each morning, and am loving pickled veggies.
