Week 20 Overall – This was a tough week. The week started off great last Thursday and we really enjoyed our Saturday in Baltimore as a family. Sunday Magnolia was under the weather but she was back to her playful self on Monday and happy as a clam. Tuesday started out like any other day, but 30 minutes after dropping off Magnolia at daycare, we got a call that she had thrown up. I felt so bad for her! Magnolia seemed great yesterday morning, but I kept her home just to be safe. Although none of this has anything to do with pregnancy, the week really took a lot out of me and I seem to be coming down with a head cold of some sort.
All that said, I’m really excited to hit the 20 week mark! I have an appointment this morning and am looking forward to seeing my doctor. I have a variety of questions for him and just look forward to having the affirmation that all is well. I’ll share more below when I talk about symptoms.
The Bump –
Gender – We’re having a boy!
Movement – I felt the baby move a couple of times this week. The movements aren’t strong, but it’s definitely the baby moving, which is really neat. It’s wonderful being able to feel the baby move and I love listening to his heart beat each week.
Symptoms – My body is really achy this week. My hips hurt, I’m uncomfortable sitting too long, and my feet have been achy. I’m hopeful I’m not coming down with something more than a head cold, but I just haven’t felt all that great the past few days. My workouts have still been good, but I’m a little overwhelmed that my body is already achy and I’m only 20 weeks. Hopefully I can add yoga or something to my routine to help and that the blahs will go away.
Food Cravings – I’m still loving iced tea, other than that, I really haven’t been craving anything.
Meals this Week – I’m still trying to eat more veggies and to limit my bread/carb intake. It’s just too easy to turn to carbs and sweets when I’m hungry, so I’m trying to eat enough protein and veggies each day. My doctor told me the best thing a pregnant woman can do is to focus on protein, so I’m trying to do just that. Meat isn’t always my favorite thing or craving, so I’ve been learning to eat other protein rich foods.
Sleep – Ehh, I slept ok this week. I seem to take a bit longer to get comfortable when I first fall asleep and then toss and turn throughout the night. I’ve also been struggling with oversleeping, so I’m trying to nip that! I snooze and snooze and snooze. I always know what my breaking point is, so I haven’t been late getting out of the house this week, but I definitely haven’t had enough time to do everything I’d like to before leaving for work. Some mornings I’m not able to eat breakfast before leaving for daycare, some mornings I reached for the dry shampoo instead of washing my hair, and some mornings I don’t have time to pack my lunch. I’ve also missed OrangeTheory the past two Mondays, which isn’t good. My alarm has gone off at 4:15AM and next thing I know I’m waking up at 6AM when Neal’s alarm goes off… oops! I might need to move my Monday morning workouts to another morning.
- Thursday – Spin class
- Friday – OrangeTheory
- Saturday – 3.24 mile walk with Neal and Magnolia
- Sunday – Rest day
- Monday – Overslept and missed OrangeTheory (this has become a trend on Mondays…)
- Tuesday – Rest day
- Wednesday – Walk with Magnolia and Theodore
